Bio

Versatile guitarist, singer, composer, Eddie Paton is an award winning musician who thrives on his eclectic career.  A classically trained guitarist, Eddie studied on full scholarship at the University of Western Ontario.  He is currently a member of the touring band for internationally renowned, and award winning recording artist Pavlo.  Eddie is a former member of three time JUNO nominated Sultans of String and appears on a number of major and independent cd releases.  He has toured North America, the British Isles, and the Middle East with Pavlo, Sultans of String, Robert Michaels, Johannes Linstead, Amanda Martinez, and Kevin Laliberté.

After dabbling in piano and clarinet for a couple of years, Eddie began his captivation with guitar at age 11 when his Mom, a classically trained pianist, enrolled him in lessons at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. There, Eddie studied classical guitar throughout his high school years, while also nurturing his passion for pop music by strumming along on his classical guitar to artists like the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel and John Mellencamp.  This flirting with the acoustic sound outside of the classical genre, led to his discovery of the Gipsy Kings and he started mimicking their style of rumba flamenco guitar strumming and soloing on his classical guitar.  In his late teens and twenties Eddie developed a love for electric guitar, playing in bands performing music by some of his favourite rock artists: The Who, Triumph, Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix, Rush, and Eric Clapton to name a few.  In addition to his work on acoustic, nylon and steel string guitars, Eddie has continued to play in many rock, R&B and dance bands over the years.

When not performing, Eddie is in the studio writing and recording original compositions reflective of his love for Latin, pop, rock, electronica and cinematic music. Eddie is a latin category winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition, the Great American Songwriting Contest and the Billboard Songwriting Contest. Eddie, along with his ReDuX:RMx partner Bret Menezes, co-wrote the score to the Sea World Australia show Pirates Unleashed.

His debut album, SOLIS, features the artistry of his distinctive and diversified guitar playing across twelve tracks of lush nylon, steel and electric guitar soundscapes infused with elements of electronica.
